Technical question- How do you guys include metada and album art with your Bandcamp uploads?

I have been uploading in FLAC format after encoding metadata using Mp3tag, and then a separate free artwork addition tool online, just to be safe.

I've noticed the artwork is working when I download a test MP3 of my music from Bandcamp, but when I bring that MP3 into Apple Music (I only use it for my MP3 collection that I own, I never stream), some of the metadata that I added in Mp3tag isn't there. (Like album artist). Lyrics from Bandcamp are there though.

Is this an issue with using FLAC, or is it Mp3tag related, or is it that Apple (and it's probably this one) just mess it up?

Any insight more experienced Bandcampers can provide would be appreciated!

I love Thall amp and Odeholm drums, and use them all the time. No producer has influenced me more than Buster, so to get to use plugins that bring that sound to my own music is unbelievable. Odeholm Audio has always been amazing at addressing issues, their customer service is top notch.

So when I saw Chris Lucas talking about Inferno Bass 2 in a video, I bought it immediately. I applied it to a really complicated track I had already recorded, and replaced my actual Dingwall on the track, as I didn't love the tone I had using Parallax (skill issue).

I spent hours programming, but once I had done everything else, I still couldn't work out how to enable palm mutes. I emailed Odeholm Audio, and as always they got back to me very promptly. Here's what they said-

"The idea with these libraries is a bit different from traditional instruments. They’re not designed to be deep-sampled, articulation-heavy “play everything” basses – they’re built as mix-ready tone machines that get you to a finished result quickly.

So instead of covering every possible articulation, the focus is on the core playing styles that translate best in a mix, with the tone already dialled in."

I'm devastated to be honest. I don't think that palm muting, one of the foundational performance techniques of metal music, is somehow expecting too much. I would contend actually, that palm muting is such a basic expectation (unlike something like say, bass harmonics or tapping) that to omit it is a massive oversight. None of these basses (there are 3 available) have them. The fact they're in their second iteration now just makes it worse. I feel ripped off to be honest- I bought this plugin to use on my music, and because I use palm muting in parts of every song (like the majority of metal players including Vildhjarta and HLB), I can't use it. I don't understand how any company can release a product that only does most of the things people would reasonably expect from it?

I have to stress here, everything else about the plugin is perfect, and I'm not trying to say Odeholm Audio sucks, because they don't. I'm confused as to why more people don't have an issue with this limited functionality. The rep said "We’re already working on a future library that goes much deeper on the performance side with a proper virtuoso player – just can’t say too much on that yet...", which isn't very helpful. Palm muting isn't a virtuoso technique, and a rough date as to when we could expect it to work with palm mutes shouldn't be asking too much. I'd love to use it in my music, but I have no idea when that may be possible. Back to DjinnBass 2 I guess?

I'm so disappointed. I wish I could understand this.
