Does Asia’s schedule give them a tournament advantage?
I think it’s been hard not to notice that over the past month that Asia has had a non-stop schedule of games while NA, EMEA, and China are all on hiatus until Champions Clash. In fact, once Asia main stage wraps tomorrow, the winners will only have 12 days of downtime before the main tournament. In comparison, China will have been done for more than 3 weeks, and EMEA/NA will have been done for over a month.
Esports scheduling differs from regular sports where physical exhaustion after several games in a row isn’t really an issue. Historically, it’s actually felt like the opposite, where teams that keep playing tend to stay “warmer” for lack of a better term. Additionally, since the other regions have wrapped, Asia has discovered a brand new dominant meta comp with Cat/Bastion which other regions haven’t even touched in an official match yet.
I’m very curious to see the opinion on this because from what I see it does seem like a pretty serious advantage for Asia and a major oversight in scheduling.
