WOC I would especially appreciate your insight.

My (white) parents gifted me a witch bottle tree for my birthday, which was very sweet in intention. But I understand that this practice was adopted by Southern US and Appalachian folk from enslaved African, specifically Kongolese, peoples.

From a baby witch with good intentions wanting to be respectful, should I use this bottle tree? Or return it in favor of another “yard ward” that is closer to my ancestry?
