Complete beginner (Just starting)

Hey, I’m 19 and just getting into coding + game dev. Right now I’m learning Lua and using Roblox Studio, and I also run a roleplay server within Roblox ofc that is in ER:LC I am planning to build my own game for it too. I am not looking for anything crazy or hand-holding just someone more experienced who I can ask questions sometimes or get some direction from. If anyone’s down to help out or just give some advice, I’d really appreciate it 👍

GTX 1660 – Random Freezes, Driver Crashes, and BSOD 116

Yo, so I’ve been having some issues that are just unusual. This never happened to me before, but after around October 2025 the problems started becoming consistent.

Most of the errors seem related to NVIDIA graphics drivers. I read a couple of articles about NVIDIA drivers causing performance issues or crashes while doing normal tasks, so I checked my Reliability Monitor and yeah, there it was, exactly what I was looking for: “NVIDIA driver crashed.”

It was mostly showing for the NVIDIA app, but I’m pretty sure the driver itself is crashing or glitching too.

So I tried the DDU method. I didn’t really roll back to an older driver, but I did remove the NVIDIA app since that seemed to be causing issues. After that, things worked fine for like a day or two, but then the problems came back again.

Now I’m getting:

  • “Unexpected Windows shutdown”
  • “LiveKernelEvent”
  • BSOD with code 116
  • And sometimes when I’m playing something, the app/game just stops working

Also, my PC sometimes freezes even when I’m idle, not doing anything at all.

If you wanna know my specs, here they are (nothing fancy):
CPU - i5 9400F
RAM - 8GB DDR4 2667MHz
GPU - GTX 1660
Storage - 512GB NVMe SSD + 1TB HDD
PSU - around 550–600W (it’s a prebuilt ASUS GL10CS, bought in 2022)

Any idea what could be causing this? Is it just bad drivers or could it be something else?
