I know it seems like we almost never challenge but the reality is I guess we do a lot

Also apparently Colt Keith and Tork have each had 3 challenges and each of them have lost them all

Casey Mize is currently posting a K/9 line this season of just shy of 10 K’s per nine innings

Casey Mize is set to be a free agent in 2027

Over the past two seasons for the first time in his career really Casey Mize has not only shown the capacity to be fully healthy

But he has demonstrated that his overall signature pitch splitter has improved

The pitch the tigers drafted him for

I’m gauging this subs opinion on whether we should re sign him or not and how much it might take because here’s the 411

Next season Skubal will most likely be gone barring some sort of miracle

Flaherty will also be gone though it’s probably for the best

That leaves the rotation as…..theoretically

1.Valdez

2.Melton (depending on what he looks like when he comes back)

3.Olson (depending on what he looks like when he comes back)

4.Jobe (depending on what he looks like when he comes back)

5.Montero

Without taking into account Mize coming back or not

No I will admit Mize has give me pause on a return because before hand I was fully convinced that when he was up for free agency that he would be shown the door

But his last two seasons have begun to make me skeptical despite some downsides that still haven’t been fixed

On the plus side he’s been much healthier after his multiple season ending injuries

And the splitter looks like it’s actually effective now

The downsides are that his fastball (particularly his 4 seam) still has problems despite it having good movement and due to his 94 MPH velo on average and his inability to paint the edges with his command

So my first question would be I guess

**How much would you be comfortable paying him**?

**TLDR bring Casey Mize back for an extension and how much would you want to pay?**

Apparently when you hit a dinger you’re supposed to point to the bullpen for the Tigers?

I was watching Greene’s interview with Dan and Benietti on “have a seat” and when Dan asked him about pointing to the bullpen on a dinger Greene responded “yeah you always credit the bullpen, it’s a 200 dollar fine if you don’t”

In a very light hearted joking manner he also mentioned how apparently Gleyber Torres is notoriously bad at remembering to point which I found funny 🤣

Greene joked said he was “in pretty deep debt”

Have you guys been aware of this clubhouse rule cause I swear I didn’t realize that’s what he was doing when he hit a homerun
