How do I get good/decent at swimming as an adult

Hello. I'm trying to get a lot better at swimming. I'm a 25M. I can swim and do basic strokes. Not for long though. I am pretty fit, but my cardio can improve for sure. I was planning on slimming down a lot now that I want to focus in being in the water. Where can I go exactly to get like professional help to improve? There are specific strokes like the combat Swimmer Stroke that I want to learn (on top of the other ones). I don't want to build bad habits if I do it solo. I wanted to get decent/good before I start my scuba diving certification. Any tips or ideas? I live in southern california. thank you!

So, I'm conflicted on whether I should highlight or map (the JW method; write down in 2-4 words what each paragraph is about). So, when I highlight im more engaged and get through the passage quicker but sometimes I miss big picture ideas (i would get around 67-80% correct). When I map, it takes me way longer, but I get more correct (80% correct usually). Im just deciding what method to commit to. Anyone else in this dilemma? Thanks in advance.

Hello,

I've been super interested in applying for the MS in radiological science (non-thesis). I was wondering if anyone can share their experience in the program or if they have an insight. I'm applying kind of late but as someone who has cancer research (undergrad), oncology interest (pre-med), and have personal experience in radiation; I thought it was such an interesting and cool program to do. Thank you in advance!

Hello! I have been interested in doing a masters program before I apply to medical school. However, the program I am specifically looking at is out of state. I come from a low-income family and this is a unique program that isn't really around my state (even though it's California). I am very interested in doing it but I genuinely cannot live there. I can work a job during my program but I don't think it would be a good idea. I understand there's TA opportunities to help. I was just wondering if anyone had similar experiences and how they delt with it or if anyone has any tips. I haven't even applied yet because I am worried that I just can't afford to live there; So, I wanted to gather any information right now. Thank you.
