WA State Question
Anyone an expert on child care providers receiving foodstamps in WA state?
I'm a grandmother and get paid to watch my grandchildren. I get paid for one, from WA state DCYF. The other I get a flat biweekly rate. I watch all the children in my home.
Last year when I did my review they argued if part of it was self employment or not. They decided only half of my income was considered self employment, which would receive the 50% deduction. They lowered my FS $100. When I did my review the representative said thats incorrect and I should receive the full balance and to push back if they tried to do that to me again. She increased my benefits.
I just did my review and the same thing happened. I make 1500 a month and my rent is 1,300 and now will receive $170 a month instead of $298. I'm really confused because even with the 50% deduction applying to half of my income, shouldn't I receive the full amount? My letters always say if I make more than 1600 a month to report it. This is less.
I've been trying to help my children with daycare being so expensive. Sacrificing my own financial freedom. It's for a good cause and I get time with my grandkids but gesh.
If they're processing my benefits incorrectly any tips on how to advocate for myself when I call?
