How did you get into The Protomen?
I'm sure some version of this question gets posted here every so often, but it's always fun to share discovery stories for a group like this.
I was 16 in 2007 and my dad took me and some friends to this videogame music festival in Baltimore called BitGen Festival. I honestly don't remember much about the performance itself, but I remember feeling that it was sort of strange and impressive that this big group of people in costume - one of whom was a giant robot that functioned more as impresario than musician - were playing original music among all these other groups doing (very fun!) vg score covers. One of my friends bought the Act I CD and burned me a copy (I've since bought that album myself across a couple formats), and if he hadn't I don't know that they'd be any more than a strange and impressive memory. But he did, and they've held on as a favorite ever since. It's only on reflection that I appreciate how special a discovery that was, how lucky I was to have a father to take me to a show like that and a friend to insist that this was a group worth sticking with.
