Passion vs Dedication

To preface, this is not a mental health vent as per rule #3, but it does mention mental health tangentially, so I hope that's alright?

I've been struggling a lot lately with motivation, and the feeling that I'm 'not passionate enough' to be a real artist. I won't get into that stuff here, but as a side effect I've been thinking a lot about the idea of passion vs motivation in art, and I'm curious what y'all think about it. How much of your art is driven by real passion, and how much is just time and practice? Would you consider yourself to be fully passionate about your art 24/7? Does passion to you mean a constant burning joy, a fundamental draw to art, or something different entirely? I'm mostly just curious to hear what you all think about this, and I think it could start some interesting discussions.

Question about the Studio Art major

Hello! I've been planning to major in Studio Art starting next year, and was wondering if any current art majors could answer some questions.

For context, I've been drawing pretty much all my life, but only started thinking about it as a serious college path partway through high school. I've not taken many formal classes, and am mostly self taught. Has this sort of background caused issues for anyone applying to the major? Also, how much do the classes cover in terms of fundamentals? If I have significant gaps in my knowledge, would it be better to avoid the studio art major entirely? I really appreciate any advice on this.
