PSA: New Rules & The 2026 Modelling Contest!
Hi everyone, thought I'd update everyone on some of the changes here. We've got some fun news, some important news, and some exciting news to go through (and we'll do it in that order).
First, some fun news: this sub has been around for a good while now, but we actually got our very first mod report this week! Finally: we're in the big time. As a result of that particular spat, I've decided to both add some additional rules for the community, and edit the first one to be a little clearer.
The most crucial thing you need to know is basically just that our goal here is to be a chill, welcoming place for friends to chat about VOTOMS. No more, no less. To that end, we must insist that you always be respectful of other issues, and we encourage you to also try to be kind.
If anything occurs here that you feel impedes that aim, please message the mods directly (if you just post a thread here or something, we may not see it as quickly or at all, depending on our schedules).
Now for the more important news: please note our new rule #2, Provide Credit. Basically, if you post any media, please credit whoever created that media, including if that person was yourself. If you collaborated with someone or something to create the media, please credit them or that, too.
That's it.
EXCITING NEWS TIME!
I've figured out an easy way to do a modeling contest! Well, easy for you. Here's how it's going to work: when you post a thread to show off a model you've built, you should select the new "Model Constest (20XX)" Flair if you want it to be considered for the yearly contest. If you've already posted a model this year, you must edit that post to add the new flair (or if you cannot do that, please message the mods). At the end of the year, we'll look at all of the posts with that flair and whichever post gets the most upvotes will be our winner!
Easy, right?
Once the contest has concluded, the mod team will then go through all of the submitted topics and change the flair to the "Models and Merch" and create the new contest flair for the new year. (Unfortunately it does not seem possible to give posts multiple flair).
If you want to share your model(s) here but do NOT want to be considered for the contest, for whatever reason, please simply use the "Models & Merch" flair from the start.
Obviously there are a few problems with this approach -- most notably being that traffic is irregular, and the more traffic this sub happens to get when a thread is posted will have an enormous effect on how many upvotes can be cast -- but I'm not sure what all we can do to remedy that. Our current plan is to sticky a thread in December reminding everyone to go through the contest entries and upvote everything they like.
That's it from us. Feel free to comment here (or message the mods directly (there are only two of us at present) if you have any questions, comments, concerns or advice.
