4 weeks today, how’s it looking?
recovery has been rough for me, week one was lots of pain because a drain was on a nerve and that has left lingering discomfort, especially when swelling is bad. my exhaustion and limited mobility don’t seem to be improving, i have some good days but most days i have difficulty even making a meal or moving around the house. my dr recommended physical therapy, and im excited for that and hoping it helps with some of the issues i’m having!
ok so questions- mainly asking here because my surgeon has been very dismissive of my concerns. at my last appointment i asked what restrictions i had and he said “as far as im concerned, all restrictions are lifted and you need to listen to your body now.” not helpful at all considering my body is constantly screaming “something is wrong!!!” and my anxiety amplifies the discomfort because it manifests very physically. please do not comment “consult ur surgeon” because at this point im tired of driving 1 hour to be talked down to.
-is it normal for pain/swelling to be amplified at night? for me it’s so bad meds barely help and it makes it very hard to relax, especially bc i still can’t sleep on my side without discomfort.
-my left side is looking more irritated thank the left, do my scars look pretty normal for this stage of healing? this week is when the incisions finally closed and i’m cleared to do scar care, but i’m kind of scared of tape bc peeling it off makes me scared i’m gonna rip something open.
-did anyone else do PT and how did it help? right now i have 1/2 the mobility in my right arm bc of swelling and shoulder pain, i’ve been using a massager but im excited to get professional help soon.
ok sorry for the long post, as i said my dr has not been very helpful so ive been relying on my community for advice!!!
