A crater on the moon is now named after a Virginia Beach native.
Carroll Tyler Wiseman’s husband, Reid Wiseman, is the commander of the Artemis 2 mission currently in space.
Carroll died in 2020 from cancer. She attended First Colonial High School and Virginia Commonwealth University.
She became a pediatric nurse practitioner and worked at Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughter before moving to Maryland and later Texas where Reid worked on the Artemis mission.
Reid and the Artemis crew spotted a moon crater on day five of its mission. They named it Carroll.
According to USA Today, mission specialist Jeremy Hansen says the crater is bright and can be seen from Earth during certain parts of the lunar cycle.
