Medicaid recertification - income and work requirements

I'm preparing for Recertification of my eligibility to renew Medicaid coverage (deadline: late June). I'd appreciate insight into the following:

(1) How adjusted gross incomes affects consideration of eligibility;

(2) Whether my status as a caregiver would impact consideration of the work requirements

Background info: ACA expansion program (21+), based in NC, single, no kids, not disabled, currently unemployed due to being a caregiver to an older adult and navigating a recent cancer diagnosis

Thanks in advance!

Day Trip in Chapel Hill

I've got a couple of friends visiting from out of town on Saturday May 16, 2026, and am trying to think of a few things we can do to explore for the afternoon and evening (12-8 PM) and would appreciate feedback. The vibe is low key, a medium amount of walking with opportunities to sit down on occasion. We'd also like to ensure parking that is accessible/not overly complicated.

Interests are:

Arts & crafts

Good food/drink (including non alcoholic)

Beauty (we're interested in getting nails done)

Any local go-tos or special events

Background: I gave up my job/career and moved here in summer 2025 to be an on site caregiver to my dad (severe traumatic brain injury in 2022). In Feb 2026, I was diagnosed with cancer, and my friends are coming down primarily to support me. I am still recovering from major surgery (mid April 2026) and have to make sure I'm managing fatigue appropriately.

Any feedback is appreciated!

A win to report 2wpo: cancer is gone and no additional treatment is recommended! 🎉🎉

My question for folks, appreciate any insight you have: They found the tumor to be responsive to hormones, especially progesterone (etiology is chronic unopposed estrogen exposure). I'm interested in additional support to manage the hormone imbalance beyond lifestyle interventions (sleep, stress management, nutrition, exercise). Provided that I'm a good candidate for hormone therapy or other options, I'd be interested. I already do the aforementioned lifestyle interventions but need the additional support with hormone and metabolic management given life's volatility (see below). What's a strategic way to go about exploring what works (HRT in particular) with your care team (i.e., oncologist, endocrinologist, gynecologist that's a certified menopause practitioner, primary care, dietitian)?

I'm in a complicated chapter of life as a caregiver to my dad (severe traumatic brain injury), had to leave my job/career and relocate last year to support the family on site, with all of us living together as adults for the 1st time in 20 years ans having complicated family dynamics, and then navigating this diagnosis while trying to remain eligible for Medicaid.

Background: 2wpo, ovaries preserved, EC consistent w Stage 1A, grade 1, no evidence of spread outside uterus. Chemo/radiation not needed. IHC analysis showed that tumor responds to hormones, especially progesterone. Etiology is chronic unopposed estrogen exposure, largely due to having PCOS.

Thanks in advance!

I'm preparing for consideration of my eligibility to renew Medicaid coverage (deadline: late June). I'd appreciate insight into the following:

(1) What gets weighted when considering eligibility. I'm especially interested in understanding income requirements

(2) Whether my status as a caregiver and/or documentation of my cancer diagnosis would impact consideration of the work requirements

(3) Whether direct cash transfers (i.e., friends or family sending money via Venmo or bank transfer) are considered potentially disqualifying transfers that can impact eligibility, based on my particular Medicaid program

(4) If it's better to reach out to my case worker in advance with info, or wait for her to reach out to me

Background info: Expansion program, based in NC, single, no kids, not disabled, currently unemployed due to being a caregiver to an older adult and navigating a recent cancer diagnosis

Thanks in advance!
