Pausing Pinky Member applications

Welcome back, fellow Star.

Today, i'd like to announce that i will be pausing applications to become a Pinky member.

I would like to rework some stuff and add..

REQUIREMENTS..

yes i know very scary, you have to actually be INVESTED instead of taking a title and dipping, isnt that hard?

But seriously. Ive been getting so. many. applications. that are just asking for a title, and not sharing anything. How hard is it to write a bit about your OC?? It gets to a point where I simply just do not wanna do this shit anymore - therefore, requirements will be put into place

"Oh but this is just for fun!" - exactly, and i want people who WANT TO HAVE FUN to have the titles, not people who take a title and are never seen again.

Any unapproved applications will be denied, but there won't be any consequences.

Now ofcourse, I dont mean to call out anyone - even if I wanted to, there's just far too many for me to bother calling out - but please. for the love of god and all things alike, if you wanna take a title "just because", dont bother.

I will also be working on adding activity checks and purging any inactive stars.

That's all.

(PS: No offense to anyone. But, as I said, it gets to a point.)

If you have any other questions, feel free to send us a modmail or ask in the comments of this post.

Moderation & a question or 2 for the community

Welcome back, fellow Star.

Today, Ive been thinking about the moderation here. So far, I can handle it by myself (I have experience, luckily), but the subreddit's growing extremely fast, and if it keeps growing like this - I reckon ill need a mod team any day now.

Now, ofcourse I have some people in mind who'm I don't mind inviting to help me moderate, buut.. I feel that would be a bit unfair since most people simply havent had the chance to establish themselves in the community..

So, I would like to ask you all for some opinions;

First of all, how should I go about choosing moderators? A good 'ole google forums applications can always do, but choosing members myself and inviting them also sounds good.. or if yall have any other ideas, im always open to hearing them!

Second of all, I was thinking about having the moderators perhaps be the Tiankui Star's apprentices? It'd make sense, and..

Oh, that reminds me, I've never actually mentioned if already established stars can also be apprentices of other stars, which would then make my idea of having the mods be the Tiankui Star's apprentices technically possible, but it would also limit my OC to a certain amount of apprentices..

Ahh, idk, ill let yall decide (that's why im asking here, is it not?)

And uhh.. that's it for the important questions. You can click off now if you dont have time to spare (which is okay!)

Moving on to some other stuff;

Do you guys have any suggestions? I'd love to hear about em since im really not sure what else i could add/change/remove, so any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Speaking of changing stuff, Im thinking about making monthly 'activity check' posts to make sure every star is actually active, but thats still just an idea, id love to hear any suggestions about this tho since i really dont wanna have inactive people who hold a seat, just makes for 1 less seat in the sea..

Ive been also thinking of adding some pre-set flairs for non-star members, if anyone would be interested, buuut idk

Anywho, that's all i have to say

If you have any other questions, feel free to send us a modmail or ask in the comments of this post.

Roleplaying; The general terms & other important stuff

Welcome back, fellow Star.

Today, I will be going over the basics of roleplaying.

As you all know, this is a roleplay subreddit - therefore, it is my duty to make sure everyone knows the very basics.

What are the basic 'terms'/shortenings?

Lets start with the word "roleplay" itself;

A 'Roleplay' (often shortened to rp) is to act the role of a character/persona/etc... - so, in other words, its to 'pretend' that youre a character (OC or not) and interact with other people as that character.

Now, we have "OOC" and "IC"; theyre quite simple to grasp:

OOC means "Out of character", it indicates that what youre about to say is a note, something said by YOU, the roleplayer, and not the character you're roleplaying.

IC means "In character", it indicates that what youre about to say is what your character says/does.

That's really everything you have to know for the roleplay 'terms'/shortenings

Now.. moving on to something a little more important..

How do you actually roleplay?

Anyone can roleplay, but not everyone can actually roleplay decently - it might seem easy (and once you get the hang of it, it is fairly easy), but roleplaying is more than just saying words as another character. It's something that you also just need to learn through time, so all i can provide are some tips on how to roleplay better.

Roleplaying tips:

-Ill be going over some general tips i have for roleplaying here

  1. Try to use proper grammar or indicate a strong accent/speech pattern/speech quirk through text

-Roleplaying through text is pretty hard, since understanding tones through text is pretty hard, so i would recommend trying to make your text as expressive as you can.

(Ex: lets say our character is a cowboy and the generic cowboy accent, instead of saying like "Hi how are you?" id instead say "Hooo-wwdy! How're ya?" see how much of a difference that makes in how you interpret the accent and the character in general?)

  1. Always communicate with the other roleplayers how you feel about the roleplay

-When youre roleplaying, youre almost always roleplaying with atleast another person - so be careful to properly communicate your feelings and thoughts with them!

(Ex: The person youre rping with killed your character, but you dont feel like it was deserved, so you tell em that you think the scene/rp should be redone)

  1. Explain your character's actions in detail

-Explain what your character is doing, how theyre feeling, what theyre thinking, etc etc, to give the other roleplayer a good sense of the environment and mood of the roleplay

(ex: "He got up. He wasnt happy" VS "He stumbled back up, holding on to the fence while he grabbed his dagger. He was not only dazed but also extremely mad about what had just happened.", see how much more you can gather on the mood & environment from the 2nd example compared to the first one?)

  1. Describe your characters tone, facial expressions and emotions!

-If you want the other roleplayer to properly understand how your character is feeling, try to describe it in any way that you can - while not cluttering the reply with a lot of words

(ex: "I like your outfit" VS "I like your outfit, she said with a warm tone and a smile on her face", see how you can tell how the character is feeling in the 2nd example, compared to the first where it could be any emotion, really!)

How to make your oc more interesting:

-Basically, ill go over on how to make your oc feel like someone that could exist, how to make the more intriguing and the likes

  1. Make their personality consisent

-Dont have them be darkshadow edgelord 3000 and then switch over to being a twink in the next second, im really not sure how else to explain this

  1. Make their personality.. tolereable

-Noone'll like roleplaying with you if your oc is darkshadow edgelord 3000 who is god itself and is always right and never loses, sorry mate.

Other tips;

-Tips that dont really fit into either category

  1. Put a trigger warning before doing anything sensitive

-self explanatory

  1. Try to atleast have a physical description of your oc

-The other roleplayer cannot know how your oc looks, therefore making it harder to roleplay, so if you can, try to provide a description or drawing or anything of your oc.

Aaaaaand that's it, have fun roleplaying!

If you have any questions, feel free to send us a mod-mail or ask them here!
