I’m a first time gardener, trying to learn how to grow tomatoes. I started these from seed up until now I don’t think I’ve done anything different. Typically I heard that you want to start growing at the end of may where I am from because it’s most definitely the last frost. I started early not knowing and they’ve been thriving inside under a grow light. For 2 weeks I was bringing them in at night and out in the morning to get the sunshine they need and hardening them with consistent temperatures during the day of 70 degrees. Last week we received some cool weather about 50-55F but it was full sun. They haven’t been outside the last two days because it’s consistently been around 50 degrees and this is what I’m dealing with! So how can I get these back to health?

We have repeat offenders who consistently call out on Saturdays/ Sundays and weekdays. On the weekends we only have 3 technicians and we rotate weekends so each technician works 2 weekends and 2 weekends off. Losing that one person means the remaining two of us are doing 100% of the work. Once a manageable shift, now it’s all about surviving the day. It feels like there is zero respect for the people who actually show up. When it's 5–7 people on a weekday, a few callouts is still manageable, but we are a high volume pharmacy, so we are typically behind all the time. My Questions:

  1. How have you successfully approached your Pharmacy Manager/team lead about patterns of call-outs rather than just one-off emergencies?
  2. Are there specific Walmart policies I should be aware of regarding weekend reliability? Or just in general?
  3. For those of you in 2-person skeleton crews, how do you manage the workload without burning out or making mistakes? I love the work, but I’m tired of being penalized for being the one who shows up. Any advice is appreciated i’m really starting to loathe Walmarts system if this were any other job they would have been fired already in conjunction with the work ethic they don’t hold.

I’ve been here for over a year and unpaid time off has never been a problem until now. I would schedule some time off in advance and those two days unpaid would be honored and I was still scheduled 40 hours a week. Now, those 2 days I requested unpaid time off for basically becomes 4 days off in a week and I am being asked to use my PTO, and if I don’t I can choose to only work 24 hours or use PTO to get up to 40. If I took 3 days or more off i would understand using PTO. Is this how it is in other pharmacies?
