Today I learned the NBA shot clock was introduced in response to extremely low-scoring games, including the infamous November 22, 1950 matchup when the Fort Wayne Pistons defeated the Minneapolis Lakers by a record-low score of 19–18; the fourth quarter total was only 3–1.
