Making Deposits to Ally Spending Account at Walmart...

Last month, I made a Deposit to my Ally spending account at my local Walmart by showing them the bar code from the app. The money was in my Ally Spending account within minutes.

Next month, I have to get a money order at Walmart to pay real estate taxes and I'll be using my Ally Debit card to pay for it, however I will need to deposit money to My Spending account and then transfer money from Savings and Money Market accounts before getting the money order.

I shouldn't have any issues with making the deposit and then transferring money from both savings and money Market Accounts to Spending, and then turn around and use my debit card to purchase the money order, should I?

A. Single (Male)

B. No Children

C. $1,746.00 (SSDI)

State: Arkansas

I'm on SSDI and receive $1,746.00 per month. I'm currently on QI-1 Medicaid.

According to the income guidelines, the monthly income limit is $1,816.00. The resource limit for QI-1 is $9,950.00.

I thought when it came to re-evaluation, it was done earlier in the year, but apparently it is going to be around September.

Anyway, last year or the year before, when my case was reviewed, they said I wasn't eligible. They were counting against me a pre-need funeral policy with a value of $2,300, however there is technically no cash value until I die. Also, in the state of Arkansas, funeral homes aren't allowed to hold onto funds, so the funds have to be kept in a policy with an insurance company, which the funeral home contracts with. The beneficiary on the policy is actually the funeral home so my funeral expenses are covered.

I think the state was trying to apply the regular Medicaid asset limit of $2,000 against me, and was counting the pre-need policy as an available asset.

When it comes to the QI-1 resource limit of $9,950.00, what is considered a countable asset? Obviously, I realize cash, stocks, bonds, etc. are considered countable.

I have a car (paid for) and I own my house.

With all that being said, when it comes to QI-1 Medicaid and the resource limit, could I theoretically have $9,000.00 in savings and it not count against me, since the current resource limit is $9,950.00?

Obviously, I don't have that much in savings, but I do have to save money throughout the year in order to cover personal property and real estate taxes.

Considering how the state attempted to count the pre-need policy against me the previous year, I'm concerned that they will count my savings against me. Currently, I only have $700.00 in savings.

My personal property and real estate taxes amount to around $1,600 per year.

Thank You.

While logged into my Chime account, I saw where I could apply for the Chime Prime card. I overlooked the deposit requirements of $3,000 per month.

I got the card today. If my direct deposit falls under the $3,000 per month, I understand that my account defaults to Chime+. Are there any additional fees associated with Chime Prime if my direct deposit is less than $3,000 per month?

I was surprised to see that the card has the same number than my previous card. Is that normal?

I already have an account with both Ally and Chime. With Chime, I have their checking account and savings. With Ally I have their checking, Savings and Money Market savings account. Chime's interest rate on their savings is 3.75% whereas Ally's is 3.10%.

I have been with Ally the longest. I only recently switched to Chime within the past year from a local bank account that I closed out. The primary reason I switched to Chime is because of the early direct deposit, which my local bank didn't offer.

A common complaint that I have heard about Chime is that they aren't a bank but rather a FinTech. I know with my Chime account, it is through Stride Bank.

Would it be worth it to switch my savings over to Chime for the higher interest on savings?

As far as making deposits to either account, I like the fact that I can make deposits locally instead of transferring through ACH.

Currently, my savings at Ally is a measly $720.00. I just recently started making regular deposits to Ally and will continue that. I use Ally to save for future taxes (real estate and personal property.)

When it comes to paying for gas at the pump, how do I avoid the $150.00 Prior Authorization that the gas station places on my card? I realize that this is normal for gas stations to do this, and usually I get a Walmart e-gift card, add it to the Walmart app, and pay with the gift card from the app, however, when I just filled up, I forgot to get the e-gift card, and I just used my Chime card that is tied to the Walmart app.

I guess more importantly, how long does it take for the $150.00 Prior Authorization to fall off and be added back, minus the actual charge?
