I am considering the Fairbuds XL (2025 refresh) as a replacement for my Sennheiser HD 559, which suffered a driver failure, and I prefer a modular headphone where I can just buy and swap parts myself rather than deal with soldering.

I am not a true audiophile, but I do value decent sound for classical music and game soundtracks. For those who have the 2025 version:

• How is the clarity for orchestral tracks?
• Does it perform well in wired mode (how I will mostly use it)?

Sustainability is my main priority and I appreciate that Fairphone is a European company. ANC is just a "nice-to-have" as my office is relatively quiet.

I am also looking at the Repeat Audio Prince, the TMA-2 Studio Wireless, and the Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro X. If anyone has compared the Fairbuds to these modular or European alternatives, I would love your thoughts.

Hello everyone. I am looking for a new pair of over-ear headphones and would appreciate some advice from this community.

I currently own a pair of Sennheiser HD 559. One side recently stopped working. I attempted to open them up and fix the issue myself. However, it appears that the driver is actually burned out.

Sustainability and environmental impact are quite important to me. I want a product that is designed for longevity. The ability to easily source replacement parts in Europe is a major plus point for me, so I am especially interested in brands that manufacture or design their products in Europe.

I am considering two specific models. The first is the Fairphone Fairbuds XL, and the second is Repeat Audio (The Prince).

Here are a few details about my typical use:

• Connection: I will mostly be using these in wired mode.
• Audio Quality: I am not a dedicated audiophile. I mostly listen to classical music and video game soundtracks. I enjoy decent sound, but I do not need professional-grade specs.
• Noise Cancellation: I live alone in a quiet environment. I go into an office occasionally. It is not a very loud space, so Active Noise Cancelling is a nice feature to have rather than a strict requirement.
• Ethics: I prefer products with transparent supply chains and recycled materials.
• Budget: Ideally under 300 EUR.

Between these two options, which would you recommend for my specific musical tastes? Are there any other European modular brands I should look into?
