Any point in doing ‘waterproof’ seal with replacement screen?

My 14yr old son’s phone. Always seems to be something around him dropping his phone, breaking the screen etc. I’ve read somewhere that the so called water resistant seal doesn’t really do much so do I need to bother? He’s got an around front and back screwed case so no risk of the screen coming away and when it’s sealed it’s the bother of heating it up, prising it off without breaking it if you’re replacing something else.

Missing cover plate over battery connector ok?

Just got my son’s iPhone 13 mini back from a local dodgy mobile phone fixer. It’s a long story but basically I’d replaced the battery myself the turned out to be a dud from Amazon. When to this guy in a rush and he sold me a battery for £20 then I thought he may as well finish the job plus he was saying if there was a problem with the battery he wouldn’t warranty it because it could be fault. So for £15 since I’d done the work of getting the screen off he put it together.

Usual cheap repair he didn’t bother to redo the seal so I opened it up to do it myself at home then saw the cowboy hadn’t put the plate back, see bare connectors in photo. How much does it matter, is it about securing the connections?

Any advice welcome. I’m chasing him to get it back but expecting a load of nonsense since he was brazen enough to not put it back in the first place.
