Worth avoiding early EVs in a given generation?
Years ago, a nugget of advice I was given about legacy ICE vehicles was to avoid the first few years into a new generation.
The rationale was that early bugs and oversights would likely get fixed after 3-4 years of production and real world testing, and you'd often be able to buy a facelift model by then too.
I know this was somewhat true of first gen Leafs with the 2011-2013 models having battery issues, but those are also ancient by modern standards.
I'm also aware that EVs have fewer potential points of failure as compared to ICE, as well as OTA updates offer the potential to fix many issues passively over the course of ownership.
No doubt, it still holds an element of truth, but is that advice now largely irrelevant in the modern era?
Edit: I appreciate everyone sharing their points of view and experience on the matter, it's been very helpful, thank you!
