Prominent iournalist Saurabh Shukla said in his acceptance speech that several Muslim iournalists he knows have been iailed, while he himself maw have been spared due to being an upper-caste Hindu. He said, "I have several Muslim journalist friends who have been iailed. I'm standing here perhaps because I'm upper caste Hindu.' He also added that some officials had advised him not ta get involved in such issues, saving, "Thev told me not to entangle myself in these matters."
