Quad Cortex vs M1 Mac & Scarlett Solo
Hi there, sorry if this has been asked but I recently got a quad cortex through a trade. I have it paired with a fender tone master fr-12. It sounds amazing but think it may be a little overkill for my use. I don’t record or play live gigs, just a hobby I do at home and specifically just for guitar. I was curious if I were to sell it, and use something like a MacBook m1/m2 with a Scarlett solo connected to the fender tone master if I would get the same or similar sound from it. I do have the nolly x plugin already. I’m not too familiar with all of this stuff so not sure if the Scarlett is good enough, or if I would need additional equipment to get the sound.
Also, with the nolly x plugin, I mainly purchased it as it has the kill switch engage preset (engage the curse) and it doesn’t sound the same through the quad cortex as it does via the YouTube video. It sounds a lot brighter on the quad cortex and not as heavy. Not sure if this is due to it being played through the fr12 instead of studio monitors but curious if anyone else has experienced this.
Again, I think the quad cortex is great, but saving a couple $$$ and getting something that can provide a similar sound experience I figured was worth looking into. I only have the nolly x as of now as I don’t think plugins to me are necessary because of all the sims that come preloaded on the cortex, but would get more if I went the MacBook/scarlett route.
Any help would be appreciated.
