My Year of Manga; March roundup!
I've been slacking and am super late with my March and April roundups! No matter, I'll March today, April next week and then I'm back on track. Hopefully for the rest of the year!
This year I'm pausing most of my Western style graphic novels purchases/readings and making up for my lack of understanding in manga by binging a whole lotta books. This doesn’t mean I’ll stop reading manga after this year, more than I’ll be mostly going back to the usual program, but hopefully more appreciative of manga.
Year of manga roundup: Month three!
New acquisitions:
- Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko
- Witch Hat Atelier vol. 4 by Kamome Shirahama
- The Bugle Call - Song of War vol. 1 by Mozuku Sora and Higoro Toumori
I enjoyed Gundam quite a bit, at times it was a bit too dated for a modern reimagining but as a whole a great trip. The black and white art was cool but sometimes a bit hard to parse. The watercolours were an absolute delight! Trying (and succeeding) to read this all in a month did almost burn me out though.
Witch Hate Atelier keeps being a delight.
The Bugle Call, well, I saw some stuff a friend of mine posted and really wanted to like it, but I find all the characters extremely unlikeable, which is okay if they were unlikeable in an interesting way, but they're not. Gonna cut this off after volume 1.
Picture 5 was month 2
Picture 6 was month 1
Picture 7 was my manga collection before I started this Year of Manga.
