The Imam Mahdi concept is a farce and is a blatant pandering to Christian polemics.
In Islamic eschatology, there is a messianic like figure that accompanies the second coming of Christ and overall prepares the world for the messianic rule.
This, is Imam Mahdi. A future descendant of the prophet Muhammad SAW that will liberate the world.
There is a glaring issue with this Hadith concept.
First of all, you might have already caught it. This Mahdi is completely missing from the Quran. He’s a saviour of humanity and yet he doesn’t even get a single mention of the central text? Seems suspicious already.
Then, the concept as a whole. It seems like a blatant retcon on the Islamic lore in the face of opposing arguments. The opposing argument in question being “If Muhammad is so great and is a successor to Jesus, why is Jesus coming back and not Muhammad”
It’s rather convenient that to basically upscale the supremacy of Muhammad amongst other prophets (while Islam claims they don’t do that and claim all prophets are equal) they basically have Muhammad say “I’m going to come back” just like Jesus did in the gospels.
He may not directly be coming back, but in some weird pseudo reincarnation successive lineage fashion he does and you have to in my opinion admit that Muhammad prophesying about the Mahdi is basically him saying how he will continue to live on amongst us.
This whole “Imam Mahdi” discourse has caused mass hysteria in Shia circles and birthed the Ahmadiyya movement. Because this is one of the saviors of the world. So if the future Imaam saviour of the universe is supposed to incarnate into a lineage we supposedly have access to today, then there’s going to be a huge scavenger hunt for who’s from the prophets Progeny.
This is where it gets truly hysterical, Sufi Shaykhs and Shi tie Imaams basically left and right claim lineage from the Prophets Bloodline and then it basically turns into a game of who can shout “I’m A DESCENDANT OF MUHAMMAD” the loudest. All in attempts at pinpointing the whereabouts of the Mahdi.
Seriously, this has got to be one of the biggest wild goose chases in religious history. We are chasing a descendant from a lineage that the next snake oil salesman on the street is claiming as a fortification of their institution. Where do we even start with knowing who descends from Muhammad? It’s not clear whatsoever and that’s why I’m ruling this as a retcon.

For the past century give or take, there has been a specific umbrella term in religious scholarship that has in my opinion plagued the field and made it intellectually dishonest. This term is Judaeo-Christian.
This term disregards the odds and massive differences these two camps share with each other by bunching them into one camp and HEAVILY undermines the involvement of the Islamic faith within the Abrahamic structure.
On an incredibly uneducated surface level, this “Judaeo-Christian” title seems to work as a perfect umbrella term and make perfect unity.
The Christians share canon scriptures with the Jews, Islam doesn’t.
The Jews and Christians share similar basis for calendars and sometimes have holidays they share, Islam doesn’t.
Christianity and Judaism are before Islam historically speaking. But most importantly the compilation of the Talmud (So this is mainly centric towards Rabbinical Judaism) was finalized around the third century COMMON ERA. Meaning that it would have been neck and neck with the council of Nicaea amongst other Christian camps that would dictate how the orthodoxy of the religion would become.
And because we all must bow down to our capitalist overlords. Judaism and Christianity have integrated smoother into the western media than Islam has.
For these incredibly implicated reasons that can be contested the deeper you get into this field, Jews and Christians have formed an umbrella term against any rival camp in academics.
But is this even what Jews and Christians want themselves? Do Jews and Christians truly want to move as one single camp? Or would like to be seen as a dual progenitor of spiritual traditions?
Having them move as a single camp seems very disingenuous not only to their differences and rivalries that are very apparent but also to the occult and mystical Jewish and Christian fields which share more in common with Islam then their famous “Judeo - Christian” term does.
One of the most important takeaway factors in a religion is what LIVING tradition stems from the predominant conception of the faith's tenants and how the PURE UNALTERD message of the religion is retained through a chain of transmission of different successors.
In Christianity this is called apostolic succession, in Islam, this is usually broken down as a isnad or a chain of transmission during the chains of how hadiths are narrated from the Prophet Muhammad SAW during present scholarship.
Another important factor of the religion is how the wisdom of the written tradition is lived out. In Christianity it is through the holy spirit, in Islam it is through the Hadith that most Islamic scholars will say is the "accompanied wisdom" of the Quran.
Today, I am making a disregarding of the latter, as I find the Hadith corpus to be SINGLE handily the most damaging thing to the religion of Islam.
In Islamic Occultism, the "Wisdom" or " Scriptural Backdrop" of the Quranic paradigm tends to be the Threefold wisdom of Alchemy, Astrology and Theurgy. And the backdrop of the Quran tends to be the Hermetic Holy Texts and the Bible. This unpopular stance has been vilified in modern academics on how to interpret the Islamic faith as the Hadithean Sunni and Shia schism claims to be the only way to interpret the faith.
Alright then, if the Bible and the Corpus Hermeticum are not good backdrops for the Quran. Then what is? Hadiths? Let's examine that then. You look at the field of hadith and it's a wasteland.
First of all, it contradicts the fear the Sahabi had when even wanting to compile the Quran in the first place. They feared they would be confused like the Jews and Christians in their freelance canonization of scripture so they felt compelled to have the Quran be a universal phenomena.
This is all well and good, but then having the scriptural backdrop of the entire Quranic text be what the Hadith corpus essentially is? A free for all scholarly showdown on whos hadiths get approved by what council the best and which hadiths gets magnified the most for what region is very telling.
This alone has caused a lot of issues for the Islamic community, as certain regions will magnify on different hadiths and then build a whole wall of ignorance around different hadith literature REGARDLESS ON IF THEIR OWN IMAAMS SAY IT'S SAHIH OR HASAN.
It basically becomes a game culturally on which Hadith gets repeated at bedtime more. That ends up being the flavor of the month
You can't win a debate with an orthodox muslim because they can easily pick what hadiths to maximize their full backdrop of the Quran in and then pick another one the next day.
Then again, the foundations on how this institution was built had it contingent on it the whole time.
The Literalism of the Quran is very contingent on Hadith literature to make sense of what is contextually occurring in it's stanzas. And none of it makes sense on a literal basis should you omit the hadiths from it.
That is a transition that is very hard to do in your journey with Islamic occultism. Divorcing the Sunni and Shia schism from the Quran.
Regardless on if you agree or not, tell me, can you truly say that the mass branches of hadith that all can't even truly be verified on it's legitimacy is TRULY the wisdom of the Quran?
Simply put, we know Chrollo lost Neons fortune telling ability. Which makes a lot of people speculate that she is dead.
However, with the Hisoka fight revealing that using post mortem nen you can still retain an ability in the bandits secret. It made me wonder if the opposite is possible.
This being, being alive and omitting your powers from the skill hunter ability.
Thoughts????
