Is Kevin out there? (WA care package received in 2011 from North Western Australian School)
WA — long shot: anyone recognise this school/kid? Care package letter from 2011
If anyone grew up in Northern WA and remembers their school sending care packages to ADF members around 2011, there’s a decent chance this came from your class.
And Kevin, if you happen to see this — your letter made it all the way to the Middle East and got a solid laugh.
Back in 2011, I was deployed and our unit received care packages from a school class in a small North Western Australian town.
Most of the letters were exactly what you’d expect — kind, polite, “thank you for your service” type messages. Genuinely appreciated.
Then we got Kevin’s.
Same care package… completely different energy. It starts off normal, then takes a hard left into something that definitely slipped past every adult in the room. It stood out instantly and had the whole group laughing — which, at the time, was worth more than anything else in that box.
Fifteen years later, it’s still the one I remember.
I’ve attached photos of the original letter. Long shot, but:
• Does anyone recognise the school?
• Or know a Kevin from a NW WA town who would’ve been school-aged around 2011?
Kevin — if this somehow finds you:
Your letter made it all the way to us, and it absolutely did the job.
Still a classic.
