I’ve had several managers like this over the years. Every message is hastily written: fragmented sentences, typos, missing context, unclear asks. Before I can even respond, I have to spend ten minutes decoding what they probably meant.
Sometimes the message is so ambiguous that even with context, there are multiple equally plausible interpretations. So I’m forced to craft an extremely careful clarification request—trying to avoid offending them—only to be met with impatience, as though I’m the problem for not understanding their “simple” instructions.
It has come to a point where, even seeing their name in my inbox triggers anxiety. So much stress and wasted time/productivity could be avoided if they took thirty extra seconds to communicate clearly.
