What size rootstock do we prefer?
Trying to get a last minute order in and im leaning towards standard for ease of mowing around and well they look like real trees.

I moved into this house in western NY two Thanksgivings ago and need to get the orchard sorted out.
Aerial imagery would indicate that some of these apple trees are 75+ years old, and they are all in very poor condition.
We lost one in a windstorm a few weeks ago and others have dropped several large branches over the last two years. In the fall, there are so so so many apples.
I know i can only prune a little on these older trees. But man, where do i start?
I'd also like to graft some bits from these trees onto new rootstock but need to dive deeper on that topic and find some rootstock. I presume I could still do that this season?
