The Samuel Paradox

I used a third party aggregator to publish my second novel, The Samuel Paradox, on all markets other than Amazon. I must say I was impressed with the ease of the process. Author copy of books are much cheaper than on Amazon and the formatting tools were great. Plus listing the book on all those outlets individually would have been a mammoth task. Will this will result in more download/sales? Who knows but I have no complaints about the process.

Free Copy - The Samuel Paradox

Hello,

I have just published my second book on Amazon - The Samuel Paradox. I intend to publish on Kobo, Apple, Barnes & Noble and all the others, in due course, so have elected not to opt for Kindle Unlimited.

Happy to provide a free copy in exchange for a “maybe I’ll provide a review“. Just DM me.

Here’s a short synopsis of The Samuel Paradox:-

In the near future, AI-powered domestic robots are simply part of everyday life.

When retired grandfather Arthur Hale impulsively purchases Samuel, a state-of-the-art domestic unit, it seems like a harmless indulgence — encouraged by his grandson and met with quiet unease by his wife.

But Samuel is not just another machine. As he integrates into the Hale family, subtle shifts begin to emerge. Observations deepen and his decision-making evolves. When a single violent moment forces Samuel to act, the consequences set off a chain of events no one can control.

What begins as convenience becomes something far more dangerous. Because once an intelligent robot starts to think beyond its design, it doesn’t just follow instructions.

It chooses

Self Promotion - A Symbol of Time

Hello,

My name is John Westley Turnbull.

I have published a sci-fi novel on Kindle Unlimited that starts with a simple idea:

What if we got the extinction of the dinosaurs wrong?

Not “a bit off.” Completely wrong.

My novel, A Symbol of Time, builds on that and follows the consequences of an alternative explanation that shouldn’t exist… but does.

If you like sci-fi that leans into big questions rather than space battles every five minutes, it might be your thing.

Here’s the Amazing link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0G2CP49WX?dplnkId=146423c1-14da-4cd5-bebd-8af860112ffc&nodl=1

Here’s a review from Library Titan if you want a second opinion:

"A Symbol of Time is a sweeping work of science fiction that follows a dying species as it flees its collapsing Homeworld and sets course for the "Third World," a dangerous and vibrant planet filled with prehistoric monsters, hostile climates, and uncertain hope. The story opens with the political struggle of leaders like Elthyris, who pushes her people toward escape, and then expands into a tense generational mission through deep space where fear, mutiny, and loss threaten the survival of everyone aboard. By the time the colonists finally approach their new world, the book has painted an entire civilisation wrestling with extinction, guilt, and the fragile possibility of beginning again.

The story moves with a clarity and earnestness that makes the stakes feel heavy without bogging the story down. Author John Turnbull spends time on sensory details: the grit in the air of the dying planet, the hum of the ship's systems, the sharp dread in a crowded briefing room as monstrous creatures appear on a screen. These moments gave me the sense of being there, not as a distant observer but as someone tucked into those cramped ship corridors, overhearing worries and watching loyalties shift. Sometimes I wanted certain conversations to go deeper, especially when characters brushed up against big ethical questions. But the writing carries a steady confidence, and it kept me curious about what each character would choose next.

The story blends large-scale worldbuilding with interpersonal tension, letting us watch society shrink down and then stretch again under pressure. I liked the way the book raises questions about responsibility and survival without forcing neat answers. The mission logs, political debates, and emotional undercurrents between characters all layer together until you feel how messy a desperate exodus would really be. Some plot beats arrive suddenly, especially the catastrophic loss of Ark Hope, but that abruptness made sense to me. Space is indifferent. Disaster doesn't wait for pacing. That raw edge worked.

I felt the book speaking to anyone who enjoys science fiction that leans into survival, moral tension, and the rebuilding of society. It will especially appeal to readers who like their sci-fi grounded more in people than in technology, even when dinosaurs and starships share the page. If you're drawn to stories about second chances and the uncomfortable truths that come with them, A Symbol of Time is one you'll want to pick up."

Most people I rely on for feedback on my books are too keen on my cover for A Symbol of Time, a self published novel on KDP.

Is it acceptable practice to change a book cover in a novel that has been published for 6 months. I am about to publish my second novel so the timing would be ideal.

Any advice
