TLDR: board pres Heather Rooks has a history of pushing her religious beliefs into PUSD public schools in disruptive ways that have cost the school district lots of money over the years.

This afternoon, the Senate Rule Committee will hear HB2589. This bill bans drag performances by organizations that receive public funds (like, public schools, libraries, etc). Minors are not allowed to be in the audience or but in the building! The definition of drag show is (purposefully) broad and vague. Violations=class 4 felony. This puts educators, librarians, at risk and chills free speech.
