Why are Ren larpers still talkin?! 😭

Why are Ren larpers still talkin?! 😭

I still see them talking about Zeal being a perpetrator and how Ren was the victim still. The fuck they gon do when Zeal is found innocent 😭🙏

(No hate to anyone)

I was so annoyed with what they have done with the Emotions, especially Hatred. The rewrite, gave Hatred a more formal approach. Which ruins Hatred's character of being deceptive and manipulative. Rewrite Hatred's objective wasn't to eradicate our emotions, but to suppress them. Speaking in a more optimistic and enthusiastic term. While the original Hatred, spoke about directly confronting our emotions, framing them as something negative. Both versions end with us being weak after beating all 3 emotions. However, the dialogues actually favor the original Hatred, whose dialogues are far more authentic and selfish. The rewrite version is more caring, genuine, and skeptic, which makes Hatred more like a generic villain.

I want to talk more about the change of Solitude's name and the roles of the Emotions. Narratively speaking, Solitude makes more sense. Hatred needed a way to deceive you into destroying these “negative” emotions, and Solitude is a name that doesn't immediately signal "bad", but Hatred makes us feel like it is. Sorrow is too obvious, as it is a negative emotion itself. But by using Solitude, it becomes questionable, whether we should or we shouldn't destroy it. When we eventually destroy Solitude, it removes our independence. Think about:

- Fear=being cautious

- Greed=Desires/Motives

- Solitude=Independence

These emotions are not “evil”, they make us (The Player), stronger and internally structured. Without them, it makes us weak, open, and easy to manifest.

Sorrow is an obvious negative emotion, but Solitude isn't. While Solitude may be the direct cause of our depression (because we are alone), it also served as our independence. Noticed how, after Demo 3, we now have Calypso, that helps and supports us? That is a clear sign of our independence being weak, where we now rely on someone.

It's not that Solitude “makes sense”, it's that, Solitude is the narrative plot point for which we change as a character.

I hate how Demo 5 ruined that idea, by literally bringing back Solitude. We didn't rely on someone, someone relied on us (Cassie).

In the original version, destroying Fear and Greed broke our consistent trait of being cautious and driven. In Demo 4, we became less hesitant, and only listened to what was told to us by Shedletsky (bring the Firebrand back). For instance, we nearly died from one of the traps inside of The Temple of The Red Sun, where we casually walked into a string laid just above the ground and nearly got impaled by numerous spikes. Thanks to Calypso, we did not. When we encountered The Great Flocci, we could've asked for anything, but we chose The Bottle and Shovel. The lack of desire was demonstrated cleanly in the demo.

Demo 3 leans more on suppressing our emotions, rather than purifying them.
