Is it worth it to move out?
Hello guys I've posted on this subreddit before, and I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but here goes.
I'm 17, a junior in high school and the school year is coming up so I'll be a senior in August. would it be worth it to try and move out? I know that vegas has some decently priced apartments, and although they aren't in the best areas, it would just be something for now.
I know a lot of you will tell me that the economy is fucked and I should stay with my parents for as long as I can but absolutely not.
I do plan on going to an out of state college next fall (2027), so I don't know if it's a smart idea. but if I did go to an in state college, would it be worth it?
EDIT:
I appreciate the brutal honesty from everyone telling me it's a stupid idea haha, but maybe I should provide more context.
My mother is abusive, and I know that's a term that's been thrown around lately in my generation, but I mean I'm living with genuine physical/emotional/verbal abuse.
I did talk to a counselor, and she recommended me to a program called NPHY that provides free housing to "at risk" youth. I'm not too sure about living in a shelter, which is why I was considering moving out.
I also have a job. If you're familiar with my last post you saw me asking around for jobs and I'm happy to have one that pays $16 an hour. It's not much for most adults, but as a teenager with no responsibilities i feel like a millionaire.
And I've seen people saying stay in state for college, but that is really a very very very last resort for me. I would if i genuinely havw to, but I want to go to an HBCU, and vegas has none.
I'm also not too bad in school. 3.67 GPA and next school year I won't have a full schedule so ill have more time to work.
