Good afternoon. I have been suffering from gastrointestinal problems for more than 10 years and I would like some advice, please.
Who am I? I am a 29-year-old woman, ideal weight, varied diet, I drink a lot of water, and I do moderate but frequent physical activity. I have mild anxiety treated with sertraline. I suffer from migraines since these problems started. I take Allestra birth control.
My history: I was an overweight teenager but I used to go to the bathroom very well, complete evacuation and always at the same time. I decided to lose weight in an inappropriate way and ate very little protein. I lost 30 kg and lost a lot of muscle mass. I was sedentary. Since then, the problems started. I also started drinking one glass of wine every night to relax because of these problems, and I did that for about 10 years.
My symptoms: alternating diarrhea and constipation, most of the time explosive stools. I need to press my upper abdomen for minutes to be able to evacuate, and after that I feel weak and get anal fissures. I feel like my bladder is always full, I have back pain, a lot of bloating, hair thinning, pain during vaginal intercourse when I am bloated, incomplete evacuation, and sensitivity to many foods.
What have I done? I have been to many coloproctologists and endocrinologists, they always prescribe psyllium (even though I say it makes me feel very bad), probiotics that also make me feel very bad (I used them correctly for months), enzymes that do not help. I did a fecal occult blood test (it showed a little, the doctor said it was normal). I had an endoscopy and colonoscopy with biopsy and it showed mild inflammation in the stomach and intestine, they also said it was normal. Complete blood tests all normal.
I have had many different lifestyles and tried many things to change. I moved to another country, lived near the beach, tried different physical activities, but running and crossfit hurt my stomach a lot. Many times when I walked on the beach for a long time, I suffered from pain. I don't know what else to do. I tried IBS medications, teas, trimebutine (I stopped because I started having pain in the upper area near the kidney that still remains), all kinds of teas, cut many foods, magnesium bisglycinate for anxiety, I took pure aloe vera from a famous brand for months.
What do I do now? I take simethicone, do pelvic floor exercises and drink peppermint, chamomile, espinheira santa and fennel tea. I don't have much stress, I don't have children, I do things I like, but many are limited by these symptoms.
