The show should’ve written out Andy after he left for anger management in season 3.
Not *because* of the wall incident… but because his character was already kinda pointless beyond the merger.
Leaving for good would have been a fitting end to the conniving nepo baby without his own personality who tried to get Dwight fired: going crazy and embarrassing himself, AND getting fired, while Dwight had a triumphant return to the office.
I just finished my 11,837th or so rewatch of the show and man, he just did not add anything of value to seasons 4-9.
I can see the purpose he served in early season 3 and as a foil to Dwight. But he was the worst part of season 9, he was a bad choice to be the boss, and he never really had chemistry with anyone (even Erin; that plot was really forced) and was just kind of there. He was just written to be annoying and… was. And that’s about it.
It just felt like Andy Bernard was pushed on us so hard from his return on out.
