ARE WE BEING QUIETLY BANNED FROM OUR OWN FORESHORE?
Hi Neighbors,
I’ve spent the last few days digging into the Sunshine Coast Council meeting from April 23rd, and what I found is deeply concerning for those of us around Lake Weyba.
It looks like a decision was made to restrict dog access on our local trails and foreshore—but instead of being upfront about it, the details were buried on page 112 of a massive report and hidden in Appendix 1 (viii).
The most frustrating part?
Council held 18 "pop-up" consultation sessions across the coast, but zero were held in our community. We’ve had no representation, no transparency, and no say in a decision that changes how we live in the area we pay rates for.
Most of us are responsible, on-leash walkers who have lived here for years (24 years in my case!). It makes no sense to ban us from walking our dogs on-leash on connecting trails while the area is increasingly geared toward visitors.
We need to force a rethink.
I’ve started a petition to demand that Council suspends these restrictions and actually comes to talk to us before stripping away local access.

Let’s make sure Lake Weyba isn’t just a "buried line" in a council report. 🐾
