Questions regarding solar installation standards.

Hey legends- I’m an apprentice almost a year in + been a bit bullied by previous employers but after 4 months of looking I resume next week.

The past year or so of being in solar some crews have done stuff different ways - I’ve got a couple questions regarding different tactics I’ve became part of:

  1. When running DC in conduit through the frame of a resi house - is it true it has to be in steel conduit?
  2. What’s the max distance feet can be apart from each other?
  3. My first boss was a cowboy and he had me soldering earth joins together at each rail - can you explain why that perhaps was?
  4. Do people really not actually use steel ties? I get some lads just leverage them to tighten and fold/chop with snips but only using nylon ones is insane.
  5. Using techies as well as silicon or silicon only on dekies?
  6. I’ve had some crews chop ally rail on the roof without an ounce of hesitation… swarf is still a thing right?

Is this acceptable to demand to be fixed?

Hey legends. I’m currently renting a place going on 4 months with one other person. Rent recently went up to $800/week which I don’t particularly think is entirely fair. Has stated that he won’t allow another roommate which I thinks a load of crap.

As per the photos included is it unfair to ask for this shit to be fixed given the rent recently went up $150/week and all that’s been done is a rotten fence got replaced?

This stuff has all essentially been present since I moved in as it’s an old house but because it’s my housemate’s mate’s dad who just know owns 100% of the title (just inherited 50%) he’s pretty stingy and I want to know if I’m being reasonable here or perhaps I’m delusional.

-shower door won’t slide majority of time falls of track and water pools in bathroom floor hence tiling gone to shit

- window slammed shut via windy avo and smashed

- tiling that’s gone to pot

- rust and paint that’s completely gone (outside of house is far worse)

TLDR- should this shit be fixed?
