MGNREGA in Andhra Pradesh has hit its weakest performance since bifurcation (2015–16).
FY 2025–26 shows a sharp year-on-year contraction. #MGNREGA #AndhraPradesh
📉 Year-on-year decline:
Persondays ↓ 23.2%
Registered households ↓ 6.1%
HHs getting work ↓ 8.6%
Workers employed ↓ 10.1% This is a state-wide contraction.
👷 Workforce itself is shrinking:
Net loss of 12.33 lakh workers
4.58 lakh jobcards lost Not just less work — fewer workers in the system.
📉 Access to sustained work collapsed:
HHs completing 100 days ↓ 57.6%
Avg workdays per HH ↓ 16%
💰 Wages increased (₹300 → ₹307), but incomes fell:
Avg HH income ↓ ₹1,574 👉 Because employment declined.
Decline persisted through the year and worsened during transition to the new VB-GRAMG framework.
⚠️ Disproportionate impact:
SC/ST households account for ~40% of income loss (₹484 crore).
This is not a temporary dip — it signals structural weakening of employment guarantee.
