Help with Cuckoo IH Twin Pressure Cooker
Hi there. I recently purchased a CUCKOO 6-Cup IH Twin Pressure Prestige Silence Lumin (CRP-OHTR0609FW) and I have some questions.
When doing any pressure cycle, there is always steam coming out of the vent and sometimes it's A LOT of steam. I've had an instant pot for years and whenever it gets up to pressure, it seals and no steam comes out until it either naturally releases and the valve drops or you do a manual release. I reached out to the Cuckoo customer service and they said it's normal for some steam to come out, but I'm not sure what a normal amount is? I did a brown rice cycle (high pressure) and by the time it did the automatic "release" there was no steam left to release and the rice was undercooked and almost burnt on the bottom.
I also did a batch of quinoa - which is a built-in, low pressure cycle - and that was a disaster. The unit got so hot so fast that quinoa started erupting out the pressure vent, which then clogged causing pressure to build in the unit and the lid popped open. This alone is a pretty big safety issue.
The service department at Cuckoo America wasn't much help; they haven't even responding to my email about the quinoa situation. I'm wondering if I should just call it and return this unit and get something different. It does make some killer rice though, but maybe I can get something cheaper that make rice just as well (because this was pricey). Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
ETA - this is supposed to be a "silent" unit, but it's actually really loud, likely because there is so much steam coming out during cooking cycles.
