Step by Step how to get Approbation (medical German License) for doctors coming from a third (non EU) country

Hello everybody, I thought I would share with everyone step by step how I got my Approbation after 2 years, having studied in Serbia (non EU) and beign a russian-serbian citizen.

  1. I started learning German on my last year of Medicine, I reached B2 in one year (doable!!) then got B2 Goethe
  2. When I finished and got my Diploma, I got all documents translated and apostilled and I moved to Münster (NRW) in Germany. Tipp: make sure you pass your state exam where you studied, they asked me for this later..
  3. I submitted all my documents and they invited me after 6 months to pass a FSP / Fachsprachprüfung. This is a medical language exam (no knowledge tested) I prepared for this exam with an online course (Mainly Amboss & Meddeonline, but I also took FIA)
  4. They told me my university diploma (From Belgrade, Serbia) wasnt enough, so they also invited me to pass a Kenntnisprüfung (This is normal for non EU! dont worry)
  5. I passed FSP first try, then I got a Berufserlaubnis (temporary licens) so I started working with this making about 3000 euros a month to pay for my stuff. Tipp: I found fats a job in Psychiatrie, other specialties not so fast, but for innere medizin I also got offers.
  6. I was brave and took the KP after only half a year , sadly I failed , but this is normal, the exam in Münster was super hard (dont desperate if u fail first time!) I decided to take courses again (wise idea) I used Amboss again, IFAS Münster and meddeonline again (Meddeonline I found to be the most identical to the actual exam, Amboss was a good general background, IFAS was free (paid by the state) good to meet other students in person. I felt ready after a few months preparation.
  7. Took the KP second time, was prepared this time and confident , I PASSED, then after a few motnhs they sent me the Approbation.

Now happily on my way to specialization in the same Klinik where I started as Assistenzärztin, so I encourage everyone to do it too!! If anyone has any questions I'm happy to help,
best regards everyone and best wishes on your way too 🌸
