Hi there, y'all!
I just moved into a new place in coastal southern California, and noticed the roof/balcony was leaking from what appeared to be a rotten plank of wood (slide 2). I had some roofers over, and they said the "bubbling in the wood" (slide 1, 3, 4) was evidence of a serious termite infestation.
Later that day, my landlord called and said it wasn't termites, just water damage, and that they were just going to fix the one rotten post, which she said was strictly water damage, no termites.
But if I'm being honest, she has been trying to minimize a number of issues that were present when I moved in, and I think she is trying to dodge this—how would she know better than professional roofers who live in & work in this area every day?
I haven't seen any termites or clear indications of them breaking through the wood, could this bubbling just be water damage? She is sending over a different roofer tomorrow, so I want to try and figure this out before they arrive.
Please advise, thanks!
"Me Me, I'm A New Man."
I was lucky enough to be close enough (and tall enough) to have caught New's wig at the very end of last night's show, and I am hoping someone has video of it (please DM me if you do!).
Some folks outside the Wilshire Ebell asked to hold it after the show, and we all thought it is heavy enough (and high quality enough) to be real human hair (lmao). Holding it up over my head felt like I was holding a scalp, it is thick. Does anyone know any details about this wig? Was this the one used for the Oscar special, too? And the whole tour? I would love to get this "authenticated" or whatever, if you know that world hmu
Regardless, I can't believe I got this piece of history, I was so heartbroken I didn't get a True Blue Certified Film Buff ribbon (I did see E.T. twice, though!), but I'll take New's wig over pretty much anything in my collection (save maybe Decker vs. Dracula still in the plastic).

I can't really put into words the immense joy that this show, this world, this community brings me. There is nothing like it, and I don't think there ever will be. To those in the know, this surreal alternate reality is the best escapism, satire, and storytelling project ever conceived. The layers of inside jokes, the people — THE PEOPLE !!! — the music, the concepts, the tech hiccups, the anger, I could go on but, man, this shit is the best.
To get the show alone was worth every penny, but to walk in and immediately encounter Vic Berger IV? To see Eddie Alfano (Joey P) hanging next to Big Bird? Then to see Bob Odenkirk chatting up Jack Black in the aisle as I walked to my seat? Then Joe Estevez getting a standing ovation pre-show as he entered, where I saw John C. Reilly stand for the man out of respect for the work & legend he is? Fucking incredibly special, these people are my lifelong heroes (not to mention Tim & Gregg). It was comedy church last night, holy shit.
The show itself was a mf KNOCKOUT. I think I laughed the entire night, my face hurt, my core was sore, and my eyes wet from the constant barrage of hits & bits last night. They went so fucking hard, I was not prepared for many of the surprises (which I will not mention directly, as I hear the special is coming to HEI!), but what a series of fucking treats. The best.
After the show ends & Tim comes back onstage (out of character/kayfabe) and you can tell he really loves his crew and friends and fellow buffs, brings them all out (including Eric Notarni-fucking-cola! Hell yes, legend!), in a heartfelt celebration, at the end of which he whips his fucking wig right the fuck at me?! Time went into slow-mo, like I had been training for this moment my whole life. I still can't believe it hit my hand, I mean get the fuck outta here, man! I almost started crying :,)
I turned to leave and Tim's family is a few rows behind me, which was so sweet to see. I was was tempted to thank his wife for all she does to let Tim do all he does, but I didn't want to bug her (but if you're reading this, Marilyn, you're an angel & we're so lucky you share him with us)!
As I shuffled out into the night, I ran into G. Amato's twin and got a selfie, in-wig, the blur of that image captures the joy in my heart. And also shoutout to my brother, who got me this sick ass E.T. shirt years ago (who knew it would feature so heavily in Gregg's segments!?), call it kismet, synchomysticism, or whatever you want, it made everything funnier for me.
It was a Six Bag night fr. I love this world they built for us, the joy we share in, the energy & connectivity & the magic. I love you all. Thank you for supporting this work. Let it be movie time forever, and Long Live On Cinema At The Cinema.
