I built a Chrome extension that puts AI tools on any text you select — define, simplify, translate, summarize without leaving the page
Been working on this for a few months. The idea came from constantly having to copy text, open a new tab, paste it into ChatGPT, get the answer, go back. It breaks flow completely.
Mentra sits in your browser and when you select any text a small toolbar appears with:
- Define — explains the word or phrase in context
- Simplify — rewrites dense text in plain language
- Translate — to your language
- Summarize — condenses a long selection
- Follow-up questions — ask anything about what you just read
Also has a popup for full-page summarization and key term extraction.
Just added Google sign-in so setup is about 10 seconds. Free to use.
