I think someone is trying to recruit me into an MLM

Im a 30 (m) dad with a toddler, my fiancee and are struggle to stay positive at the end of each check and are often both negative by the time the check hits. I go to a chiropractor and was approached by a newer patient there. He started by complimenting me and we hit it off. After the third time seeing each other, he said his last appointment was coming up and offered to meet outside the chiropractor office to hang out and talk about cars. I said sure. When I offered to do a play date for our kids, he said he figured we could meet at panera and get coffee together first (first red flag). We met and had good conversation but he later began to talk about how troubled financially he was in his early 20s and how he had to "build himself into who his is today". This sounded very rehearsed and I suspected a pitch was coming. Then he ended his speech with "so hey, I wanted to talk to about this opportunity and joining me in expanding my business". Thats when the pitch came on. I asked him lots of questions about what a work day looks like, if he had promotional or official material to read, where the money comes from, what he even does. He was unable to clearly answer most of my questions but assured it would cost me nothing but a little of my time during the week, and he said much of his work involves "leveraging products" and "making new connections with people".

I wasn't sure what was happening at the time and he made it sound so lucrative, so all I said was, as long as it isn't a scam and I don't have to spend any of my own money, I would be interested in hearing more. He said he would meet with his business partners to talk about me and would reach out this up coming week.

I am sad because I genuinely thought I was making a new friend when it is so hard as a busy parent to make friends. Does this sound like he's trying to recruit me into an MLM? What do I do? My knowledge of MLM is very limited as I am in the service industry not sales
