M.I.A. was just dropped from the remainder of Kid Cudi’s tour after she went on insane MAGA flavored political rants where she accused the audience of being “illegal” and went on about how unfair it is she was cancelled for being a brown Republican. The past few years have been full of insane antics by her, including a conspiracy-theory-inspired clothing line meant to resemble tin foil and protect you from what she calls “evil dust” like 5G. Grimes occupies a rather similar niche in music with a fair amount of overlap…yet somehow M.I.A. can still release music without every thread and comment section devolving into madness and arguments, despite her political views to be fully admitted and on display. Grimes, despite ample evidence contrary to the Nazi allegations and a long track record of being kind hearted and socially progressive, cannot change her socks without headlines about her being a fascist sympathizer. Every single post about her is full of animosity and misogyny…M.I.A. mostly goes unchallenged. Why do we think this is? Why crucify one woman over rumors and assumptions, but allow another to move unfettered despite being openly bigoted? It makes no sense, I cannot be made to believe that people hate Grimes out of actual morality concerns.
