Does the rest of the Cain series ever get that brutal?

I'm referring to when Ciaphas and company  >!felt forced to shoot a bunch of mooks who were technically on the Imperiums side!<  . That's kind of a brutal scene for a character whose books have a reputation for being more light-hearted

For mother's day, shoutout to Jess Squirrel. Appreciate in retrospect how this warrior was just part of the adventuring/rescue party, no questions asked

Fascinatingly, she instantly got the creeps from Unohana. And this is from the captains early portrayal, in the smiling, seemingly cheerful look, Again, with no prior knowledge, she intuited that something was off about Unohana.

It made me wonder what it was about the design/picture that might set off alarm bells. For Agamotto's wife, it was the eyes.
