COMPLETE REVIEW OF IEM-UEM (1st YR)

*this is my personal opinion, yours might be different and hence we are humans.

I still remember searching how is iem uem everywhere before joining 1 yr back and here i am

Hello juniors, I saw so many posts these days asking so many questions about this college, let me answer them from my perspective.

Students - Most of them are from well background.

Stay - Its very important to remember that PGs and hostels are below average here and you might feel you got stuck. I would prefer a flat with some of your mates but that too has a different hassle, be careful to come here and check yourselves before you join.

Admission - Most of the students are either admitted through IEMJEE or on a basis of their rank in mains or wbjee. Though 20% of the students use donation.

Environment - Pretty cool in both the campuses, built in the busiest parts of Kolkata you would find the campuses really small and they are just okayish with no AC and mediocre classrooms.

Discipline and attendance - Their attendance policies are very strict and they scare the shit out of students for discipline, imagine I missed my mid sems because I was 2 mins late exactly 2 mins.

Campus Life - There's no campus and neither is a life for the students. Joking but yeah you would have to move out of the campus to chill out with friends.

Exams, assignments etc - Too much bro every subject has atleast 2 assignments per sem along with 2 mid term practicals, 2 mid term theory papers and end sem practical plus theory. Lab manuals are quite bulky but manageable.

Seniors and Culture - Great! I could not have asked more, most of them are very helpful and humble, remember to use "didi" while talking to female seniors to make them feel comfortable and they will help you if they can.

Professors - Everyone is great at what they teach but most of them have a little inflated ego atleast that is what I felt and some of them are too mean to work with, I prefer maintaining a distance with them.

Opportunities - Yes I would say there are on campus as well as off campus coding, internships and networking opportunities. Also our college has a good culture of research papers and thesis writing sometimes overwhelming too.

Fests - Tech fests are mediocre but others are absolutely shitty, the standards are set too low.

Overall, I would say a pretty decent college with solid placements atleast compared to other private unis, I joined in here because I could not crack the college I wanted and was passionate for cse anyways. My personal ranking for WB pvt colleges is Techno Main>Heritage/IEM UEM>others.

If you want academics only then Yes else No.

THERE WILL BE NO LIFE FOR FOUR YEARS
