It ain’t over till it’s over.

Just finished a brawl match where my opponent tried to ‘Good Game’ me into conceding or swinging hard and leaving myself open. I told myself “he’s probably got it, but I’m gonna make him earn it.”

He’s running [[Toph, the First Metalbender]] with an earthbent forest at around 20/20 or so as well as some other small-timers. I’ve got [[Heroes in a Half Shell]] with a handful of +1/+1 counters thanks to [[The Ooze]] as well as [[Irma, Part-Time Mutant]] copying Heroes for the Vigilance so I can swing and still have a defender. Next turn I get [[Shadowspear]] on her to give her Lifelink and Trample and a [[Mithril Coat]] for Indestructible. He manages to kill Heroes, Ooze ability kicks in and creates some Mutagen tokens, I turn them into more counters on Irma. He gets another earthbent forest up to about 20/20 and the first is now around 35/35. He gives me another ‘Good Game’ then swings hard with everything he’s got. I had just enough blockers (including a 1/1 chump blocker with deathtouch to take out his lesser land creature) to block just enough (sacking the rest of my board except for Irma) that Irma’s Lifelink saved me. Going into my turn, he and I both have 3 life left, he’s tapped out with nothing in hand and I’ve still got Irma at around 25/25. When I tell you I squealed and jumped with joy when he conceded, I’m not exaggerating in the slightest.

Tl;dr: if you think you’ve got the win, don’t get cocky; if you think your opponent has the win, make em earn it.
