Hi folks,
I've just done a clean minimal install of Kubuntu 26.04, and then installed both chromium and firefox. All fine so far, looks great and works well. However, I then thought it would be neat to export my passwords from a different system and them import them into these browsers. The imports fail for both: no permission to read the file. Even though it's right there with read permissions in my own home directory.
My previous experience with snaps wasn't the best, but I thought I'd give this another try, and I've been disappointed yet again.
Does anyone know if there's actually a way around this? How would a snap be allowed to read a file like this? Is this a bug in the snap, or something which needs configuring manually? I'd have expected something so basic to just work. Is anyone using these snaps, or manually installing .deb packages instead?
I thought after spending 15 years as a Debian developer would have been enough to figure this out, but this is a new complication I know nothing about, so any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks, Roger
