From your perspective, what are the most plausible "cryptids" or allegedly unknown animals in South America?

I am of course informed about the topic, but I would like to know and discuss the opinions of the community. Personally, I think it is one of the most promising places for modern cryptozoology (in a traditional sense) along with Southeast Asia.

Just uploaded to Internet Archive the volumes of this extremely rare Spanish translation of On the track of Unknown animals by Heuvelmans.

As I said in my previous post, this edition from 1958 has very good an introduction written by Heuvelmans instead of Gerald Durrell. Also the chapter "There are lost worlds everywhere" has some paragraphs that were removed in the English translation, including a bit of Heuvelmans' opinion about UFOs. Personally, the covers are gorgeous.

If you have any rare Cryptozoological literature that is not online please consider digitizing it in the future, it doesn't matter the language.

Cryptozoological digitization project

I just bought these two volumes of the super-rare Spanish edition of On the Track of Unknown Animals, "Tras la pista de los animales desconocidos".

I consider myself very fortunate that this is my first physical copy of a cryptozoology book. For the past few months, I've been working on the Cryptozoological Digitization Project with the help of some folks, and I'm pleased to announce that I'm currently working on digitizing this Spanish edition, both for international research and for the enjoyment of the Hispanic cryptozoology community.

This edition is so rare that this was the only complete and original version available for buy in Latin America! So far, I can highlight that it has an introduction written by Heuvelmans, completely different from the English edition, and the first chapter, "There Are Lost Worlds Everywhere," is substantially different from the English edition in some parts. I strongly suspect that some interesting things were omitted from the English translation, including a few paragraphs about Heuvelmans' opinion on the UFO phenomenon: at least for me, it was very odd to read.
