New Build and Stupid trim

Is there an alternative to trimming to perpendicular doors this way with a gap? I feel like there must be a better way.

Hey everyone,

First let me thank you all for the wealth of knowledge you have provided on this feed. I have a new build home that came with a tree that started to look very sad. We convinced the homebuilder to replace it and three months ago got the tree pictured. It has since turned into what’s in the later slides. When I saw it beginning to decline, I recognized that the tree was buried too deep and began hand excavating to where we are now. Its root flare has been exposed for 3 weeks. I also added the tree ring, pulled away the rock mulch and get some mulch on the ground to keep it cooler in our warm months approaching. I also added the deep irrigators you see pictured in hopes of getting deeper watering.

This tree is currently being watered once a day for 15 minutes a day (this sounds like a ton but the water pressure isn’t so serious as to flood anything) and I occasionally hand water as well once every week or two. I’m trying so hard to not fuss…but honestly it’s hard as I wait to see if it can manage through. Please give me thoughts as to how I’m doing or not doing with this tree.
