How do you guys feel about the Aus Standards being made a free for all?

Well one positive out of the budget was that they're going to make Australian Standards free.

It’s pretty embarrassing seeing tradies so insecure about their ability to deliver value that they feel threatened by DIY. If you were confident in your work, you’d offer advice and recognise there are still plenty of people happy to pay rather than do it themselves. Relying on protectionism is bottom of the barrel in my view and really speaks to a lack of confidence in your ability. Just look at New Zealand, where DIY electrical work is legal, yet there is still a strong market for electricians.

And before anyone jumps in, no, I’m not worried about someone underqualified or without overheads undercutting me. I deliver not just an outcome, but a level of service around it that people are willing to pay for.
