Garden shed in a garage

Hi all, my daughter is looking to start practicing playing with her friends as a band and we have a fairly big that I thought would be a good space.

The garage is on the ground floor and all living spaces are on the first floor (single storey house but on a slope so has a basement). I’ve tested some guitar playing and it’s pretty clear in the house so will need some form of noise reduction. My other daughter is autistic and so would benefit from less noise too.

My understanding is the best solution is a room within a room, with no contact points. I wondered if the easiest solution would be to buy a large garden shed and build it in the garage - that way there’s a standalone room not touching walls or ceiling. I could then clad that over time with panels to further reduce the sound. It would need to fit a drum kit and space for a couple of other players plus seating.

Has anyone ever done this? Do you think it would make a noticeable difference or would I be wasting my time?

Cheers

String Recommendations for higher tunings

Hi all. Bought a 638 on a spur of the moment and I’m a fan of Machine Head who tend to use drop B or C# standard. From some reading it has suggested that for the higher tunings it’s better to have lighter strings to reduce neck and string tension.

Any recommendations on what would be the lightest strings I could use with this tuning, bearing in mind the reverse headstock requiring very long strings?

Cheers.

G4M 638 Strings

Hi all. Long time guitar player, very new to bass (but loving it) and have now taken the plunge and bought a G4M 638 30” baritone to play round with.

Very much a hobby player, big Machine Head fan so fancied setting it up for Rob Flynns standard tuning (C# I think) as he plays a baritone (albeit a 27”). But, from doing some reading I apparently need lighter strings at that tuning, but I can’t find any that are long enough for the 30” scale length plus the reverse headstock and string through body.

Any advice on strings I could use? My understanding is the thicker strings will be too tight and put too much tension on the neck at the higher tuning.
